Barrowden to Empingham
Leave Barrowden and follow the River Welland for a short way, in winter this part of the route and again at Duddington will flood and be impassable. Follow the meanders, pass the isolated church of Tixover and then, after going under the A47 at Duddington, continue towards Ketton. Go through Ketton Quarry and then follow the road to Rutland Water where you’ll find the iconic Normanton Church. After taking some time at the church follow the path around the reservoir over the dam wall and into Empingham.
