Oakham to Uppingham
Starting in the Market Place in Oakham town centre, the route goes away from town, through farmland to Egleton, past the Anglian Water Birdwatching centre, and over undulating fields to Brooke, then Braunston. More gentle inclines take you alongside Prior’s Coppice, before going through the Leigh Estate, into Belton-in-Rutland , Wardley, cutting through Wardley Wood before emerging towards Uppingham. The official walk route bypasses Uppingham, so should you want to visit the town, which is a great idea, then you will need to detour a few hundred yards.
